Ireland’s best food producers recognised

Ireland’s finest food products and producers were announced at the 2015 Irish Food Writers’ Guild Awards this afternoon.

Food provenance and authenticity were top of the agenda at this year’s Irish Food Writers’ Guild Food Awards, held for the last time after 10 consecutive occasions in L’Ecrivain restaurant, as seven food producers were presented with a 2015 Award.

Now in its 21st year, the  IFWG Food Awards recognise and reward producers of the highest quality food together with industry stalwarts who devote their lives to supporting and promoting Irish food.

What’s unusual is that no one can enter themselves into these awards – they must be nominated by members of the IFWG.

The winners of the 2015 Irish Food Writer’s Guild Food Awards were:

Isabelle Sheridan – On the Pig’s Back (Cork)

Eugene and Helena Hickey – Skeaghanore Farm Fresh Ducks (Cork)

Fiona and Malcolm Falconer – Wild About (Wexford)

David and Martina Burns  – Richmount Elderflower Cordial (Longford)

Siobhan and Paul Lawless  – Foods of Athenry (Galway)

Birgitta Curtin – Burren Smokehouse (Clare)

Veronica Molloy  – Crossogue Preserves (Tipperary).
