A new category, ‘Ireland’s best “one day only” carvery’, has been added to the winners’ enclosure. This category will search for the venue that serves the best carvery on only one day a week and will run alongside the established Great Carvery Public House of the Year and Great Carvery Hotel of the Year categories.

This year’s competition was launched by Unilever Food Solution’s Head Judge Mark McCarthy who said, “While we know that the industry is still under considerable pressure because of challenging economic conditions, we also believe that carvery is something truly unique to Ireland and we should be showcasing it as one of the Irish foodservice industry’s unique selling points”.

He added that the introduction of the ‘one day only’ carvery category “is a direct result of the growth we’re seeing in this channel”.

Register your competition entry at www.greatcarvery.com and the public can vote from 12th May by text or at www.greatcarvery.com/vote.

A shortlist of venues will be judged by a team of mystery shoppers to reduce the finalists down to just three pubs, three hotels and three ‘one day only’ venues.

The Overall and Provincial winners will be announced this September in Dublin.

Each overall winner will receive PR to the value of €2,500, marketing support to the value of €2,000 and a specially-commissioned wall plaque.
