Good ’22 but “impossible to say” ’23 outlook – LVA

Dublin's licensed trade has enjoyed very good business through the Spring and Summer periods this year but both the trade and the consumer now face "very severe cost pressures and for the Dublin licensed trade, pressures on margins," according to the Licensed Vintners Association's Chief Executive Donall O'Keeffe.

“The level of Party Bookings for Christmas is very good,” he told Drinks Industry Ireland, “Here, too, the new year is looking very positive.”

“The pressure on the consumer has to soak money out of the economy” he believes, “and that would indicate a gloomier outlook for ’23 but how bad that will be is impossible to say. There’s been strong employment and a strong consumer recovery this year.”
