February bar sales 1.6% down on January

Showing a decline of 1.6%, bars were among the businesses with the largest monthly volume decreases in retail sales in February according to the CSO which published provisional retail sales figures for February recently.

During the month sales values declined 1.2%

However the annual volume sales decrease was higher at 2.4% while value sales showed a decrease of 2.1%.

Final figures for January indicate that bar sales volumes decreased by 1.8% and values by 1.7& on the December 2014 figure but over the course of the January to January year bar volumes rose by 0.3% with values rising 0.8%.

Provisional CSO figures for the quarter from December 2014 to February 2015 show a 0.6% decline in volume sales when compared with the same three-month period a year ago and a 1.2% volume decline on the immediately previous period September to November 2014.

Sales values for the quarter were down 0.3% on the year and they were down 1.3% on the previous September/November period in 2014.
