The Licensed Vintners Association (LVA) has said the key focus should now be on advancing the delivery of the Dublin Taskforce Recommendations.

The Dublin vintners were speaking after the Government published their ‘Roadmap for Delivery’ of the Dublin Taskforce recommendations yesterday.

Donall O’Keefe, chief executive officer, LVA

Among the key initiatives included in the roadmap were:

  • Creating a Special Purpose Vehicle to drive delivery.
  • A 10-year Integrated Area Strategy for Dublin City Centre.
  • Accelerated delivery of landmark capital projects.
  • Redevelopment of the GPO as a flagship project.

Speaking in reaction to the plan, Donall O’Keeffe, CEO of the LVA, said, “This all comes down to delivery, that will be the key.

“It is positive to see this plan announced and to consider the potential impact of these initiatives over the coming decade.

“However, what we can’t lose sight of is making sure the practical steps become reality.

“That is what will make a difference to the lives of people in Dublin and to all the pubs we represent.

“Thankfully, there have been some signs of action regarding the Dublin Taskforce recommendations recently.

“This is most apparent in the increased level of on-street policing that is being reported by our members, a most positive development for which we thank and congratulate An Garda Síochána.

“It is important that quick action along these lines is also taken on other recommendations, such as ensuring waste management improves in the short term and that nighttime transportation is enhanced without delay.

“We look forward to seeing the new implementation body taking shape in the near future and engaging with them about these issues and others of concern to the pubs of Dublin,” O’Keeffe said.
