 Alcohol prices fall 0.7%

Alcohol prices fell 0.7% overall in the 12 months to the end of November 2015 according to CSO figures.

Over the September/November three-month period prices fell by 0.5% compared to the previous June/August quarter and prices fell by 0.3% in November compared to October 2015.

Off-trade prices fell by 3.4% in the 12 months and by 1.2% compared to the previous month, October 2015. The annual price fall comprised a 1.7% fall in spirits prices, a 3.7% fall in wine prices and a 3.4% fall in beer prices.

The 1.2% monthly change comprised a fall of 5.8% in spirits prices, a 1.0% fall in wine prices and a 0.5% increase in beer prices.

Prices in licensed premises rose 0.5% over the course of the year to the end of November comprising a 0.6% rise in spirits prices, a 0.7% rise in wine prices, a 0.4% increase in beer prices and a 0.3% increase in soft drinks/mineral water prices.

Compared to the previous month, October 2015, November’s on-trade prices grew just 0.1% with all categories showing this rate of growth with the exception of soft drinks/mineral waters which level-pegged in price.
