Wetherspoon to drop EU suppliers?

JD Wetherspoon’s Tim Martin has intimated that EU drink suppliers could lose their placings with his pub chain if the EU were to encourage European businesses to be un-cooperative with UK companies following its decision to Brexit.

His pub chain, with over 900 pubs in the UK and five over here, announced a slowing down of sales growth and Tim Martin predicted rising costs for the rest of the year.

However any full-year forecasts – JD Wetherspoon’s year runs to the beginning of August next year – would be “inevitably tentative” depending on whether the UK secures tariff-free deals from the EU.

“If we and companies like ours, are unable to agree on tariff-free transactions, it will inevitably result in a loss of business for European companies which have done nothing to deserve this outcome,” commented the prominent pro-Brexit advocate.
