Two more Wetherspoon pubs by July

Two out of the three new Wetherspoon pubs being built in the Republic of Ireland should be open by the middle of July.

A May 1st opening is envisaged for The Tullow Gate in Carlow while The Silver Penny in Dublin’s Abbey Street has an opening penned in for late May to mid June.

May will also see development work commence on Wetherspoon’s new pub and 89-bedroom hotel, Keavan’s Port Hotel, set to open in January 2020.

The 900-strong UK pub chain is investing €27 million in the three new developments which will create 570 new jobs and bring the total number of Wetherspoon outlets in the Republic of Ireland to eight, with more set to open, states the company.

“We’ve enjoyed great success with our five existing pubs in the Republic of Ireland and are looking forward to opening the three new outlets,” commented Wetherspoon’s Chairman Tim Martin, adding, “We will continue to look for other sites.”
