The Jobstown House mannequins
Congratulations to John Kilbride’s Jobstown House in Tallaght which has produced its own contribution to the ‘Mannequin Challenge’, the YouTube craze that’s sweeping the internet.
The entertaining spoof has staff and customers at Jobstown House ‘frozen’ in live-time as the video-cameraman takes us on a tour of the pub to the soundrack of Bruno Mars’ ‘24K Magic’, showing customers ‘frozen’ live in the act of drinking their beer while an unmoving staff pull pints and pour drinks.
The camera then pans onto the motionless waitress carrying a tray of drinks and customers caught live in a snapshot of time celebrating a win on the horses, playing darts, taking ‘selfies’, playing pranks on each other and enjoying karaoke – all while suspended motionless in time.
Finally the tour ends with the only mover in the place – a wink from the barman proprietor John himself.
“Myself and Len Moore were chatting about a few things one night” explained John, “and we’d just seen the James Cordon one in the US so we decided that if we were going to do it, we’d need to do it quickly, before some of the other pubs active on social media got in on it.”
So John called out his customers and staff to get it done and within 24 hours everyone had come onboard. It was done in one take with all the staff and customers happy to give it a go, he says.
The response has been “unbelievable” says John with social media platforms getting in touch as well as various newspapers.
“We never really get much recognition and so we thought we’d give this a go,” says John, “It’s great to get the attention.”
