The Buena Vista’s Irish Coffee night

F.X. Buckley and Tullamore D.E.W. will host a one-night Buena Vista Irish Coffee experience in Dublin this February celebrating the iconic cocktail

Next February, a transatlantic toast will be raised in celebration of one of the world’s most iconic cocktails, as The Buena Vista Café of San Francisco comes to F.X. Buckley in Dublin for a special one-night collaboration in partnership with Tullamore D.E.W.

The evening will also feature mesmerising storytelling and a culinary set menu inspired by the partnership between F.X. Buckley’s renowned Irish hospitality and The Buena Vista’s timeless legacy

The evening, taking place on Thursday, 5 February, will bring together two institutions renowned for their craft, hospitality, and devotion to quality.

As legend goes, the Irish Coffee was first created by Joe Sheridan in 1943 at Foynes airport, Shannon and discovered by renowned San Francisco journalist Stanton Delaplane on a flying visit to Ireland.

Delaplane is now credited for bringing the Irish Coffee to The Buena Vista’s owner at the time (Jack Koeppler), who perfected the drink.

The first serve took place in the world-renowned restaurant in 1952 with Tullamore D.E.W.’s triple blend Irish Whiskey, and they still use Tullamore today, 70 years later.

Now, over 70 years later, Tullamore D.E.W. is bringing the San Francisco bar’s head bartender to Dublin to recreate their signature serve alongside the F.X. Buckley team — uniting the best of both sides of the Atlantic in honour of “one of the world’s most iconic drinks.”

Special guest on the evening will be Darcy Parsons, a US veteran of hospitality.

With over 25 years of experience and at the helm in The Buena Vista for the past seven years, Parsons and his team prepare over 1,500 Irish coffees daily in the busy Fisherman’s Wharf iconic establishment.

Guests will experience the authentic Buena Vista Irish Coffee, perfectly balanced with the award-winning Tullamore D.E.W. triple blend Irish Whiskey, fresh cream, and rich coffee — a drink that embodies Ireland’s true spirit of conviviality.

The evening will also feature mesmerising storytelling and a culinary set menu inspired by the partnership between F.X. Buckley’s renowned Irish hospitality and The Buena Vista’s timeless legacy.

“The Irish Coffee is more than a drink — it’s a story of warmth, craft, and connection,” said Stephen Buckley, managing director of F.X. Buckley.

“We are delighted to be partnering with a fellow standout Irish brand, Tullamore D.E.W. and look forward to welcoming The Buena Vista team to Dublin.”

Kevin Pigott, global ambassador, Tullamore D.E.W., added: “The Irish coffee is one of our finest exports and Tullamore D.E.W.’s rich and smooth flavour profile has cemented its relationship with this drink for a long time.

“Tullamore D.E.W. is excited to bring these two hospitality giants together to celebrate world class service and drinks.”
