Tesco & Dunnes gain takehome share

Multiples Tesco and Dunnes continue to gain ground within the take-home alcohol market (excluding spirits) with the market-leading Tesco increasing its share of this market from 26.6% to 27% according to Kantar Worldpanel figures in the year to 24th April 2016.

Second-placed Supervalue held its 22.8% share of the takehome market while Dunnes increased its share from 15.9% to 16.2%.

But the discounters Aldi and Lidl paid the price, with Aldi’s share dropping from 12.6% of the takehome market to 12.2% while Lidl’s share fell to 12.5% from 12.8% when the 52 weeks ending 24th April 2016 are compared with the 52 weeks ending 26th April 2015.
