SuperValu retains top beer, wine & cider share

SuperValu retained its top spot for beer, cider & wine off-sales in the year ending the 14th of June with an alcohol market share of 26.7%, up from the 26.2% share it had in the year ending the 16th of June 2019.

Kantar’s figures, exclusively supplied to Drinks Industry Ireland, show that second-placed Tesco lost market share in the beer, cider and wine off-sales sector, going from 25.3% to 24.4% during this time.

With a share of 18.5% Dunnes Stores came in third, growing share from 17.7%.

Lidl came next, growing its share from 11.2% to 11.4% while Aldi’s share shrunk to 10.2% from 10.3%.

‘Others’ – the independents – saw further market share shrinkage from 9.3% to 8.8%.
