SuperValu & Dunnes gain beer & wine share

Tesco continued to lose share in the beer and wine retailing business in the 12 months to the 10th September 2017, according to Kantar Worldpanel.

Figures from the market researcher exclusive to Drinks Industry Ireland show a declining overall share of beer and wine sales at Tesco from 26.5% to 26.2% as SuperValu increased share from 23.5% to 23.6% and Dunnes Stores increased share too from 16.9% to 17.8%.

Discounters Aldi and Lidl again both lost share going from 12.1% to 11.4% in the case of Aldi and from 11.5% to 10.4% in the case of Lidl.

The ‘Others’ category increased share from 9.5% to 10.6% in the 52-week period to 10th September according to Kantar Worldpanel.
