Shake that Monkey!

Scotch whisky brand Monkey Shoulder is shaking things up with its mobile mixer.

Scotch whisky brand Monkey Shoulder is shaking things up with its mobile mixer, a 2,400 gallon cocktail-shaker in the guise of a cement-mixer that it’s taking on the road in a series of pop-up appearances across America throughout 2018.

The “Monkey Mixer” can hold 123,000 bottles of the blended Scotch brand which will be served up by its US ambassador Seb Derbomez and brand associate Tobias Schopf. Together they’ll serve a cocktail called the ‘Mixed Up Monkey’ from the Monkey Mixer’s chute – a mixture of Monkey Shoulder [1½ parts], mint simple syrup [3/4 parts], soda [3 parts] and lemon juice [1/2 parts] to be garnished with a fresh mint sprig.

The colossal cocktail mixer is being used as a vehicle to inspire imbibers to play with their whisky in mixed cocktails, to challenge perceptions about Scotch whisky and redefine expectations for cocktails, with a focus on being a resource and inspiration for the bartending community [it says here].

“Many consider whisky sacred and precious,” commented Seb, “Many take their cocktails very seriously. We respect that, but believe people should play with their whisky and enjoy the experience.”
