Revenue seizes contraband worth more than €1.6M 

The illicit cigarettes had an estimated value of almost €453,000 found in two separate Dublin premises

Revenue officers examining parcels at a premises in Dublin seized almost 60 kgs of herbal cannabis, as a result of risk profiling and with the assistance of detector dog Milo. The illicit drugs, with an estimated value of €1,198,000, were discovered in parcels originating from Croatia and were destined for addresses in Dublin. 

Separately, Revenue officers seized more than 195,000 cigarettes at a premises in Dublin. In a follow up intelligence led operation, a further 345,600 cigarettes were seized at a separate premises in Dublin. The illicit cigarettes were branded ‘Sobraine’ and ‘Dunhill’ and had a combined estimated value of almost €453,000, representing a potential loss to the Exchequer of approximately €356,500.
