Revenue seize contraband worth over €120,000 in various operations

Over the past week, revenue officers seized contraband with an estimated value of over €120,000 in various operations in Dublin, the Midlands, and Rosslare Europort.
The detections were made as a result of risk profiling and intelligence led operations, and included the following:
- Over 1450 litres of alcohol, with an estimated value of over €18,100, and representing a potential loss to the Exchequer of over €9,700,
- Tobacco products, with an estimated value of over €14,500, and representing a potential loss to the Exchequer of over €11,200
- 1.6kg of herbal cannabis, with an estimated value of over €31,300,
- 53 counterfeit items, with an estimated value of over €31,200,,
- 557 grams of psilocybin mushrooms, with an estimated value of over €11,100, and
- Various other illicit drugs, with an estimated value of over €13,300
The herbal cannabis and illicit drugs seizures were made as a result of risk profiling and with the assistance of detector dog Ciara. The parcels originated from the USA, the UK, the Netherlands, France, Germany, and Slovakia, and were destined for various addresses nationwide.
The counterfeit goods were seized as they were confirmed by the Rights Holder to have infringed on Intellectual Property Rights. One hundred and forty-six weapons accessories were also seized.
Investigations into all seizures are ongoing.
