Restaurant/Dining sector sees 28% drop in November card transactions

At  214,924 Debit & Credit Card transactions spend in the Restaurant/Dining sector of the economy was down 12% in last November compared to the previous month, October (which saw 243,117 such transactions).

 

"As seen during the initial period of restrictions in the first half of this year, as opportunities for in-person consumer spending declined, a larger proportion of PoS spending was conducted online," stated the Central Bank.

According to the Central Bank’s Debit and Credit Card Statistics, published recently, the November spend was down 28% on the 299,010 transaction number in November 2019  as Level 5 restrictions limited this sub-sector’s activity to take-away and deliveries only.
