Powerscourt Distillery takes a Gold
The World Whiskies Awards form one of the highlights of the year for the whiskey industry, selecting, rewarding and promoting the world’s best whiskies to consumers and trade across the globe. The annual Awards are presented by TheDrinksReport.com and Whisky magazine.
Hundreds of Irish whiskeys were considered for the ‘World’s Best’ but this Single Malt was selected by the judging panel for its signature taste, states the distillery.
Powerscourt’s Master Distiller Noel Sweeney applied his vast experience to ensure different proportions of each style to lend balance and expression to the Five Elements within the Limited Release of only 1,500 bottles.
“A unique whiskey is always a pleasure to develop,” commented Noel, “Working to distil, mature, finish, blend and balance this rare composite expression represents years of experience and patience required to bring all the elements together forming something truly special and we’re delighted that our Fercullen Irish Whiskeys continue to be recognised amongst the Best Irish whiskeys in the world.”
Launched on November the 12th last year in time for the Christmas market, this Limited Edition 18 Year-Old Single Malt expression was eagerly anticipated, selling-out of its initial release allocation.
But the distillery has retained a small amount to release for St Patrick’s Day celebrations along with a Limit Edition Fercullen 16 Year-Old Cask Strength Marsala finish.
