Paulaner Oktoberfest at Dublin’s Mansion House
The Mansion House – the official residence of the Lord Mayor – opened its doors to host Paulaner Oktoberfest 2012, a weekend of Bavarian-themed celebrations from Thursday 13th to Sunday 16th September.
Paulaner, one of only six beers permitted to exhibit at Munich’s legendary Oktoberfest, will be celebrating all things German and so Oktoberfest fans had four evenings to soak up traditional Bavarian banter with pretzels and bratwurst washed down with steins of Paulaner served by Bavarian barmaids. The Bavarian Strollers, a premier German Oompah Band, provided the Munich music.
Paulaner’s Oktoberfest was also be celebrated in various venues across Dublin city.
The original Oktoberfest was created on October 12th 1810 to celebrate the royal Bavarian wedding of Prince Ludwig and Princess Therese. After five days of celebrations, Prince Ludwig decreed that from then on, the festival would run each year and that Paulaner was one of only six beers to be served at the celebrations.
