On-trade prices up 6%

Average prices this November as measured by the CPI were 0.3% higher compared with November 2012.

Among the most notable changes in the year were increases in Alcoholic Beverages & Tobacco (+6.2%). Compared with the previous month, October, increases were also recorded in Restaurants & Hotels (+0.6%) and Alcoholic Beverages & Tobacco (+0.4%).

Alcohol prices overall rose 6.8% in the 12 months and by 1.9% over the three-month period September to October when compared to the June to August period. Overall alcohol prices rose by 1.7% in November over October.

In the off-trade, prices rose 8.4% over the 12-month period comprising 5.6% for Spirits, 10.9% for Wine and 5.7% for Beer. Off-trade alcohol prices overall were down 0.7% in November when compared to October. However monthly prices were up 1.6% for Beer but were down 1.2% for Wine and 3.8% for Spirits.

In the on-trade Licensed Premises prices rose 5.9% over the 12 months comprising 6.1% for Spirits, 5.7% for Wine and 6.2% for Beer. Soft Drinks & Mineral Water prices rose 2.1% during this time. Compared to the previous month, October, prices in Licensed Premises rose 2.7% comprising a 3.0% rise in Spirits prices and a 2.7% rise in Wine & Beer prices. Soft Drinks & Mineral Water prices rose 0.7% on the October figure.

Nightclub admission prices fell 1.5% in the 12 months but rose by 0.3% on the October figure.
