Off-trade prices down 3%

The price of alcoholic beverages in off-licences and supermarkets fell 3.0% in the year to the end of April 2015 according to CSO figures.

This comprised a fall of 2.8% in spirits prices, a fall of 3.7% in wine prices and a fall of 1.7% in beer prices.

Compared to the previous month, March, prices in April were 0.7% down and comprised a fall of 1.5% in spirits prices, a 1.6% fall in spirits prices and a rise in beer prices of 1.2%.

In the on-trade prices rose 0.3% in the year to April comprising a 0.3% rise in sprits, beer, soft drinks & mineral water prices and a 0.4% rise in wine prices.

Compared to the previous month, March, on-trade prices remained flat with a rise of just 0.1% in spirits and wine prices.
