October restaurant card spend up 15%

Total social spending via Bank of Ireland debit and credit cards decreased by 1% in October 2022 in comparison to the previous month according to BofI's credit card statistics for the month.
October's restaurant spend rose by 15% or by €64 million.

October’s restaurant spend rose by 15% or by €64 million.

 

However when compared to the previous year, social spending increased by 10% or by €67 million. This was driven by an increase in restaurant spend, which rose by 15% or by €64 million, while spending on entertainment increased by 1% or by €3 million.

At €488.8 million October’s total BofI credit card spend on Restaurants/Dining fell slightly in comparison to September’s spend of €489.1 million while October’s credit card spend on Entertainment, at €264.4 million, showed a 1.7% drop on that for September (€269 million).
