November bar sales down nearly 5%

Bar sales volumes fell 0.4 per cent last November compared to the previous month, October, according to initial seasonally-adjusted estimates from the CSO. Sales volumes were 4.9 per cent down for the year however while values were 0.6 per cent down in November compared to October and 5.1 per cent down for the year as as whole.

Final figures for October indicate that bar sales volumes were down 2.3 per cent compared to September and by 9.0 per cent on the year as a whole while sales values indicate a fall of 2.4 per cent compared to September and 9.2 per cent for the year as a whole.

Over the three-month period September to November 2011, bar sales volumes were down 4.0 per cent over the previous three-month period and by 6.5 per cent on the same period in 2010. Similarly, bar sales values for the three-month period fell 4.2 per cent compared to the previous three month period in 2011 and showed a decrease of 6.8 per cent over the same three-month period in 2010.
