Jägermeister seeks motivated bartenders

With the success of last year's virtual Jägermeister Scholarship, this year's virtual scholarship is again being offered to all applicants from the 18 member-countries comprising the Hubertus Circle, an international network of bartenders initiated by Jägermeister.

Bartenders can apply for the 'Jägermeister Scholarship x Virtual Edition' from now until May the 3rd online.

Bartenders can apply for the ‘Jägermeister Scholarship x Virtual Edition’ from now until May the 3rd online.

Residence in one of these countries is a prerequisite for participation in the ‘Jägermeister Scholarship×Berlin Edition’.

Jägermeister has made a name for itself as a strong supporter of bartenders and the next generation of skilled bar pros, underscored by Jägermeister’s thriving international bartender network, the abovementioned Hubertus Circle, the brand’s international bartender network for both established and young bartenders as well as promising newcomers.

The scholarship programme took place in Germany for the first time in 2011 and has been organised globally since 2018 and 2019 when three young bartenders from member countries had the chance to travel to Berlin for three months to work and learn in the city’s hippest bars.

But due to the pandemic, the third Berlin edition of the Scholarship could not take place as planned last year and so it had to be reorganised with the Scholarship taking place virtually for the first time.

“A cancellation of the scholarship was unthinkable for us,” says Nina Eggeling of Jägermeister Global Experiential Marketing, “Without further ado, we organised the programme virtually. Because – especially in these times – we don’t want to let anyone down. ”

Ireland’s Ali Hayes, Slovakia’s Lukáš Čabaj, Finland’s Celestino Schienbein and Sabrina Traubner, Pete Shava and Monde Mkhonza from South Africa represented the first class of the virtual scholarship last year.

Through a mixture of master classes and workshops with Jägermeister Global Brand Ambassador Nils Boese and other mixologists from all over the world, the participants deepened their knowledge and skills as bartenders.

The scholars then blogged about their experiences on www.hubertuscircle.com as well as on the Hubertus Circle Instagram channel (@hubertus_circle_) and on their own social media channels.

The group’s final project benefits all Jägermeister fans as the young bartenders showcased the diversity of Jägermeister in a recipe booklet with 13 drinks suitable for both mixing beginners and bar professionals. The booklet will be published this month on www.hubertuscircle.com.

Due to the success of this first virtual scholarship, Jägermeister plans a virtual edition this year too.

“We have to remain flexible,”, says Nina Eggeling, “The virtual version of the Jägermeister Scholarship gives us this freedom.

“We’re relying on the support of our network here. The members of the Hubertus Circle help us immensely and are committed to the next generation of bartenders. We’re happy that our community sticks together even in these difficult times.”

Jägermeister is now looking for motivated rookie bartenders between 21 and 35 years-of-age, coming from one of the Hubertus Circle member-countries (which includes Ireland), who’re willing to push forward their career and seek a three-month digital adventure from this September until November.

They can apply for the ‘Jägermeister Scholarship x Virtual Edition’ from now until May the 3rd online on www.hubertuscircle.com.
