The rebrand comes after Gilbeys partnered with leading UK drinks distributor Bibendum in March last year. The partnership combined Bibendum’s premium and artisanal wines with the established Gilbeys wine brands and has led to a series of wine tastings hosted around the country, new account wins and an increase in year-on-year wine sales, claims the company.
“The time is right to transition fully to ‘Bibendum Ireland’,” commented Bibendum Ireland Sales Director Duncan Millar, “Our customers are now clear about our proposition and what value and choice we can bring to the market.”
Michael Saunders, Chief Executive of Bibendum Wine, added, “The Gilbeys name is renowned in Ireland but after over a year of a successful introduction of Bibendum’s range and approach, we’re delighted that we can use the Bibendum name to reflect how the business has changed and evolved”.
He predicted “only minimal administrative changes” with the rebranding exercise.
