Flavours of New Zealand for 14th January

New Zealand Winegrowers hosts its 22nd tasting of New Zealand wines in Ireland on 14th January 2019 at the Flavours of New Zealand tasting in the Radisson Blu Hotel in Dublin’s Golden Lane. 

Over 150 New Zealand wines are available at next year’s event including a number from key New Zealand wineries.

In addition to the main tasting, there’s also a masterclass.

The trade and press tasting runs from 2pm until  6pm with the consumer tasting following at the same venue from at 6.30 to 8.30pm.

New Zealand sold 543,621cases of wine onto the Irish market in 2017, growing its share of the 9.1 million case total wine market to 6%.

MAT figures for the retail wine sector in Ireland for the period March 2017-2018 show off-trade growth in the wine market. According to Scantrack, the MAT volume figure for nine-litre case sales to March 2018 was 5,689,969, up from 5,416,383 in March 2017, an increase of 5.16%.

And New Zealand figured among those countries showing the strongest growth during the period with off-trade sales up 6.88% in terms of value and 5.36% in terms of volume, according to Nielsen Scantrack.

Participating wineries for the 2019 New Zealand Winegrowers annual tasting include:  Askerne Winery, Babich,  Brancott Estate, Cloudy Bay, Felton Road, Lawsons Dry Hills, Mt Beautiful Wines – Teece Family Vineyards,  Oyster Bay,  Pegasus Bay, Sacred Hill, Saint Clair Family Estate, Seifried Estate, te Pa Family Vineyards, Villa Maria and Yealands Family Wines.

Tickets for the consumer tasting are now on sale priced at €15.00 and a great idea as a Christmas stocking filler.
