BWS sales witness highest price inflation YTD

Beer Wines & Spirits sales have witnessed the highest price inflation due to Minimum Unit Pricing in the Year To Date - to the 19th of June 2022 - according to NielsenIQ which points out that value sales are down by 12% in the year and by 15% in the YTD.
"There is evidence of trading down in pack sizes in Spirits whilst sales of mid-sized pack sizes are up in beer."

Falls of 15% are noted over the last 12 weeks and the last four-week period too.

These double-digit declines in BWS sales are matched in the UK too, with downsizing in spirits evident according to the market research company.

“The main driver of decline is decreased consumer demand,” states NeilsenIQ, “There is evidence of trading down in pack sizes in Spirits whilst sales of mid-sized pack sizes are up in beer.”
