Blacks Brewing & Distilling releases Kinsale’s first ever Whiskey

These two cask strength whiskeys, both bottled at a bold 59% ABV, are available in a limited edition run of just 500 bottles

Blacks Brewing & Distilling, renowned for its innovative craft beers and spirits has announced the highly anticipated launch of its Inaugural Whiskey Release – marking a historic milestone as the first-ever whiskey distilled in Kinsale. 

This exclusive release features two exceptional expressions: a Single Pot Still Whiskey, aged in Oloroso Sherry casks, and a Single Malt Whiskey, aged in Port casks.

These two cask strength whiskeys, both bottled at a bold 59% ABV, are available in a limited edition run of just 500 bottles, each individually numbered, making them a true collector’s item for whiskey enthusiasts and connoisseurs alike. 

For the first time ever, whiskey lovers can own a piece of Kinsale’s brewing and distilling history.

A Historic Moment for Kinsale

Blacks Brewing & Distilling has been crafting exceptional beers and spirits in Kinsale for years, but this marks a momentous occasion – the release of their first-ever whiskey. 

By combining the artistry of the distillery with Kinsale’s rich heritage and stunning coastal location, this inaugural whiskey release represents the culmination of years of hard work, passion, and innovation.

“Kinsale has long been celebrated for its rich culinary heritage, and now it’s adding a whiskey distilling tradition to the mix – with the very first whiskey ever crafted in this historic town..We’ve poured our hearts into this project, and we’re excited to share it with the world,” said Black.

Tasting Notes: A True Expression of Craftsmanship

The two whiskeys in this inaugural release have been meticulously crafted and aged for four years, each reflecting a unique maturation process that highlights the natural flavours of the casks used.

• Single Pot Still Whiskey – A rich and robust whiskey, this expression is aged for four years in Oloroso Sherry casks, adding deep, nutty, and dried fruit notes, balanced by a delicate spice from the pot still distillation. Expect a smooth mouthfeel, with a harmonious blend of sweetness and oak.
• Single Malt Whiskey – Aged for four years in Port casks, this whiskey showcases a softer, fruit-forward profile, with hints of ripe berries, chocolate, and subtle oak. The port casks lend a lovely sweetness and complexity, making this a beautifully smooth whiskey with a long, warming finish.

Both whiskeys are bottled cask strength at 59% ABV, offering a true, unadulterated taste of the spirit, with plenty of room for aficionados to enjoy it neat, with a splash of water.

Limited Edition, Exclusively Available Online

In keeping with the exclusive nature of this release, only 500 bottles of each whiskey will be released. Each bottle is individually numbered, offering whiskey lovers the chance to own a rare piece of history from Kinsale’s first distillery. Bottles are available to purchase individually, or as a pair (one of each expression), providing the perfect opportunity to experience both the richness of the Single Pot Still and the smooth complexity of the Single Malt.

To celebrate the release of this historic whiskey, Blacks Brewing & Distilling invites whiskey lovers, friends, and fans to join them for a special Launch Event at Fishy Fishy, Blue Room Restaurant, Kinsale, on Thursday, December 12th at 6:30 PM. It’s a chance to meet the team behind the distillery, sample the whiskeys, and enjoy the warm, festive atmosphere of one of Kinsale’s best-loved seafood spots.

There will be tastings, chats with the distillers, and the chance to purchase your very own bottle of these limited-edition release. It’s the perfect opportunity to kick off the holiday season with the first ever whiskey distilled in Kinsale!
