Bar 1661 named one of Top 10 Cocktail Menus in the World, and wins award
Bar 1661 has recently been named one of the Top 10 Cocktail Menus in the World by the 2025 Spirited Awards after winning Innovator of the Year at the 2025 Irish Restaurant Awards.
Bar 1661 in Dublin 7 was recognised for ‘We Call This Power’, a 28-drink celebration of Irish poitín, Irish drinks, and Irish producers.
The Spirited Awards honour excellence across the global bar industry and includes awards for writing and media, as well as top honours that celebrate the best in the world—such as World’s Best Cocktail Menu.

Bar 1661 features alongside bars from Sydney, Singapore, Miami, Bangkok, Mexico City, Edinburgh, Barcelona and Oslo for the prestigious World’s Best Cocktail Menu Top 10 accolade, presented by the Tales of the Cocktail Foundation in New Orleans.
“We are humbled to say the least” says Bar 1661 owner Dave Mulligan. “We Call This Power is our statement of intent as a bar, and to see it recognised at this level makes us incredibly proud.

The We Call This Power cocktail menu is built on Bar 1661’s orbit of community, partners and collaborators.
Cocktails featured include the bar’s iconic Belfast Coffee (€10),, made with Bán poitín, cold brew coffee, cream, demerara and nutmeg, White Oak (€15) made with Egan’s Vintage Grain Irish whiskey, Lost Irish whiskey, pear, fig, white port, sour grape, lemon peel and cinnamon Parts Unknown (€15), made with Bán poitín, Don Julio tequila, grapefruit, pineapple, mulberry, lime and chilli, and Round Towers (€15), made with Glendalough gin, Micil poitín, aquavit, kiwi, lemon sherbet and celery.
We Call This Power finds its purest expression in the bar’s groundbreaking 28 course liquid tasting menu.
This intimate shared table format is limited to 10 people, hosted by 1661’s award-winning bar team.
Cocktails are served in mini format with matching glasses, ice and garnishes in the same manner as the full menu drink, and are presented with information behind the partnerships, techniques, styles and names.
Flights of non-alcoholic cocktails as well as shared food for the table are also served.
This unique event is designed for flavour explorers, connoisseurs and passionate alcohol enthusiasts.
Located on a quiet corner just off Capel Street, BAR 1661 is celebrating its sixth year in business, hot on the heels of the opening of its sister bar, The Sackville Lounge, in April.
The Sackville is the city’s newest cocktail bar, with a mission to bring a touch of glamour back to O’Connell Street with its statement black interiors and elevated classic cocktails.
Expect exceptional cocktails, a sense of occasion, and a bit of old-school decadence at this chic late-night hideout opening from 12 noon til late Tuesday to Saturday, with DJs spinning from 9.30pm every Friday and Saturday and no reservation required.
