Bar sales volumes down 8.6%
Retail Sales Index estimates put bar sales volumes down by 1.5 per cent in April compared to March while values were down 1.7 per cent. Bar sales values were down 7.8 per cent compared to April 2011.
Final figures for March put Bar sales down in volume by 4.6 per cent compared to March 2011 and values down 3.7 per cent while volumes were up 3.5 per cent on February as values rose 3.1 per cent.
Over the three-month period February to April, Bar sales volumes dropped 7.8 per cent compared to the same period in 2011 and by 4.8 per cent compared to the immediately previous November to January period. Bar sales values also dropped 6.9 per cent over this period when compared to the same period in 2011 and by 3.6 per cent when compared to the previous period.
