Bar sales value continues decline

Sales volumes in bars declined by 6.6 per cent over the year from September 2010 to last September while values declined by 6.8 per cent, according to the CSO’s seasonally adjusted estimates, published recently.

Compared to the previous month, August, both volume and value were down by 0.1 per cent.

Final seasonally adjusted figures for August indicate that bar sales volumes were down 7.5 per cent on August 2010 while values were down 7.7 per cent.

When compared to July this year, sales volumes and values in bars were both down 5.5 per cent.
Over the three-period July to September this year, bar sales volumes fell 5.2 per cent when compared to the same period last year and by 5.4 per cent in value.

Compared with the April to June period this year, bar sales volumes declined by 0.7 per cent and by 0.9 per cent in value.
