Bar sales jump 600% in March over March 2021

Volume sales in bars saw a 611% increase in March according to provisional seasonally-adjusted figures from the Central Statistics Office. Bar values were also up by a similar figure: 636%.

But bar volumes actually fell by 20% when the CSO’s provisional March figure is compared to the previous month, February. Bar values were also down, by 19%.

Final figures for February indicate that bar sales volumes were up by 776% on those of February 2021 while bar values were up nearly 800%.

Compared to January 2022, both bar sales volumes and values were up 23%.

Across the first Quarter, bar sales volumes were up 627% compared to Q1 2021 while bar sales values were up 647%.

When Q1 of 2022 is compared with the previous Quarter (Q4 of 2021), bar sales volumes showed a decrease of 16% while values were down 11%.
