August Bar volumes up 18%

Bars, Pharmaceuticals, Medical & Cosmetic Articles and Clothing, Footwear & Textiles were the only sectors that showed an annual increase in sales volumes in August according to provisional seasonally-adjusted figures from the Central Statistics Office.
Comparing August’s Bar sales figure with those of pre-Covid February 2020 volumes were still down 15.3% while values were down 5.9%.

Sales volumes in Bars were up 17.7% on those of August 2021 while values were up 24.2%.

Compared to the previous month, July, August’s Bar sales volumes were up 7.5% while values showed growth of 5.2%.

Comparing August’s Bar sales figure with those of pre-Covid February 2020 volumes were still down 15.3% while values were down 5.9%.

Across the three-month period June to August Bar sales volumes were up 32.5% on those of the same three months in 2021, while values were up 40.3%.

Comparing the June-August bar sales with those of the immediately preceding three-month period March to May, the June-August bar sales volume was up 15.2% while values rose 18.2%.

Final CSO figures for July indicate bar sales to have been up 33% on July 2021, with values up 41%.

Compared to June, July’s Bar sales volumes were up 0.9% while values rose 0.6%.

The overall volume of Retail Sales was up 2.0% in August over July but down 5.6% on August 2021.
