Dublin – 8th best city in world to enjoy a beer
With world-class breweries, bars and beer festivals to enjoy around the globe and with international travel beginning to open up, money.co.uk has revealed the best cities in the world for beer and Dublin ranks eighth.
money.co.uk compiled a list of 40 destinations known for their local beer scene and gave each a score out of 10 based on three metrics:
- breweries per 10,000 people
- bars, pubs and clubs per 10,000 people
- average price per pint.

With an overall score of 4.36 out of 10 and with 5.66 pubs and bars per 10,000 people, Dublin is nevertheless notorious for an expensive pint, having the fifth most expensive pint on the list at €5.49, only beaten by San Francisco (€6.70), Melbourne (€6.09), Boston (€5.86) and London (€5.85) prices.
Dublin has 0.54 breweries per 10,000 people (30 breweries in the country) and 314 bars, pubs and clubs listed on Tripadvisor.
London itself comes 39th in the list of 40 with an overall score of 2.19 out of 10.
Asheville in the US tops the league with an overall score of 8.41 out of 10.
