18 Enforcement Orders served in October – highest in 10 years

The Food Safety Authority of Ireland served 12 Closure Orders and six Prohibition Orders on food businesses in October making that month the highest in 10 years for Enforcement Orders issued.

Seventeen of the Enforcement Orders were issued by EHOs and one by local authority veterinary inspectors in Cork County Council for breaches of food safety legislation.

Seven Closure Orders were served under the FSAI Act 1998 including one on Campbell Catering trading as Aramark Ireland in Athlone while under the EC (Official Control of Foodstuffs) Regulations 2010 Closure orders were also served on the kitchen of The Shamrock Bar & Restaurant, Market Square, Dunmanway, Cork.

Four successful prosecutions were also taken by the HSE including one on the Regency Hotel, Swords Road, Whitehall, Dublin 9.
