Wexford Fleadh Artisan Food Hall launches at 2024 Fleadh Cheoil
Minister of State for the Department of Justice James Browne TD and celebrity chef Kevin Dundon officially opened the ‘Wexford Fleadh Artisan Food Hall’ on Thursday, 8 August 2024. The event took place at the Wexford Presbyterian Church on Anne Street as part of the 2024 Fleadh Cheoil.
At the event, Minister Browne spoke about the importance of Wexford food production as a key driver of the local economy. He acknowledged Wexford County Council and Wexford Local Enterprise Office for their roles in supporting the growth of the food sector in Wexford.
The 2024 Fleadh Cheoil in Wexford welcomed 700,000 visitors from Ireland and abroad that week.
Celebrity chef Kevin Dundon also addressed the audience, discussing the abundance of high-quality food produced in Wexford. He emphasised the significant impact of the region’s coastal location on its food products and highlighted the recently launched Wexford Sea Salt, made from coastal waters off Cahore Point and solar-evaporated to create a mineral-rich sea salt.
The event was hosted by the Wexford Food Producers Network, with support from Wexford County Council and Wexford Local Enterprise Office. It was one of many highlights planned for the 2024 Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann.
