Sky Sports covering 2016 Open

Sky Sports begins its R&A partnership this year with exclusive live coverage of The 145th Open from Royal Troon in Scotland.

The new arrangement follows an announcement last February that from 2017 Sky Sports will be the new home of golf’s pre-eminent Major championship.

However it will begin its coverage a year early and will offer round-the-clock programming including live coverage of all four days’ play in their entirety.

The agreement means that Sky Sports pub viewers can enjoy all four Majors, the Ryder Cup, The European Tour and PGA Tour, as well as a host of other live events and programming.

“This is great news for pubs and clubs” said David Rey, Sky Business Managing Director, “with Sky Sports now showing all four Majors as well as the Ryder Cup.”

Sky Sports will offer live coverage of all four days from Royal Troon including extended build-up throughout the week and support programming across its channels and digital outlets.

Golf coverage features every week of the year and the studio’s golf analysis team has some of the sport’s biggest names including Colin Montgomerie, Butch Harmon and Paul McGinley.
