Pub volumes drop 3%

Sales volumes in bars fell 2.1% in the year to March according to provisional seasonally-adjusted figures from the CSO although they rose 1.5% in value.

 

 

Compared to the previous month, February, bar sales volumes were up 1.2% while values were up 0.6%.

Final seasonally-adjusted sales figures for February indicate that bar sales volumes were down 2.5% in the year although they showed a value increase of 1.3% annually. Volumes were up 1.7% over January 2019 and values were up 3.8%.

Across the three-months January to March seasonally-adjusted bar sales volumes showed a decline of 3.0% – the largest volume decline of any of the 13 retail sectors that Quarter – with values up 0.7%. Comparing the first quarter of 2019 with the last of 2018 seasonally-adjusted bar sales volumes were up 0.3% while values level-pegged.
