Pre-tax profits down at Coppers

Pre-tax profits at Dublin nightclub Copper Faced Jack’s parent company Breanagh Catering fell 6.7% to €3.8 million in the year to the 31st of January 2019 from €4.1 million the previous financial year.

 

Revenue was down 9.5% at the nightclub to €13.23 million from €14.63 million as Operating Profits for the Cathal and Paula Jackson-owned enterprise dropped by 6% to €3.61 million from €3.94 million.

The bar & nightclub operation took in €11.7 million (down 10% from €13.1m) while accommodation at the premises took in €1.5 million, down 2% on the previous year’s €1.6m.

This is perhaps reflected in the drop in employee numbers from 196 to 183 (comprising 176 in ‘retailing’ and seven in Admin).

Staff payroll costs (including directors remuneration) came to €4.3 million, down 16.5% from the previous year’s €5.1 million.

During the year the two directors took out €554,764 where they’d taken out nearly €1.3 million the previous year.
