November credit card spend on Restaurants/Dining up 145%

Credit card spend in the Restaurants/Dining sector here was up by 145% or €255.6 million to €432.3 million in November compared to the same month in 2020 according to figures published by the Central Bank.

But compared to the previous month, October, November’s 2021 Restaurant/Dining spend was up just 2%.

“Social spending increased by 12%, or €83 million, compared to the previous month,” stated the Central Bank, “This increase was mainly driven by a rise in entertainment spending, which increased by 29%, or €76 million, when compared to October, while restaurant spending grew by 2%.”

Credit card spend on Entertainment showed growth of 60% to €337.4 million in November compared to €210 million in November 2020 while it was up 29% over the October 2021 figure of €261.2 million.
