McGargles wins Craft Beer Cup

The fourth annual Dublin Craft Beer Cup was awarded to Irish brewers Rye River for their McGargles Francis’ Big Bangin IPA while the Dublin Craft Cider Cup was awarded to fellow Irish company Orpens for its Fresh Pressed Apple Cider at this year’s Alltrech Craft Brews and Food Fair.

The event at the Dublin Convention Centre attracted more than 10,000 visitors and officially became a world tasting record breaker when The Guinness World Record for the world’s largest beer tasting was smashed on the opening evening. Ireland now holds the world record with 729 people simultaneously tasting three beers, beating Mexico’s previously-held record of 714 participants.

After three days of craft beer, spirits and cider, the fourth annual Fair closed its doors at Dublin’s Convention Centre having hosted 729 craft beer fans from all over the world including Italy, Russia, Wales, the US, Mexico and Brazil.

More than 70 exhibitors showcased their finest brews and food offerings to a crowd of more than 10,000 over the weekend.
