Landmark Dublin pub refinanced

Dublin city centre landmark bar and restaurant The Church has successfully completed a refinancing agreement thus returning full ownership to proprietor Brendan Flynn.

The outlet has also strengthened its relationship with C&C Gleeson by signing a long-term multi-beverage agreement under which C&C Gleeson will supply the business with all of its beverage requirements including its own portfolio of brands.

The Church currently employs 70 staff and is one of Dublin’s busiest bar and restaurant emporia. With a capacity of over 1,600 people, the multi-use venue includes a bar which can accommodate 600 customers, a 120-seater restaurant and a basement-level nightclub and function rooms. The Church also has an outdoor patio area with seating for 250.

Given the venue’s rich history, architecture, art and literary associations, it rapidly became a ‘must see’ for visitors to Dublin City and it’s estimated that tourists are responsible for close to 50% of the venue’s patrons The business has delivered sales growth each year since 2007 despite a 30% fall in industry sales in the period, says Brendan.

“We’re a large employer and are pleased to be able to enter the 2014 Christmas period with certainty for our employees, suppliers and all of our customers,” he stated, “Our re-financing is excellent news for both the staff and the local community as the venue will continue to prosper as an Irish family-run business.”
