The wines from Finca La Celia, the oldest wine estates in the Uco Valley have agreed to enhance their partnership with the Curragh Racecourse and will be available throughout the racing season at the County Kildare venue.
Founded in 1890 by Eugenio Bustos, La Celia’s roots grew from the trade of Eugenio’s beloved horse for Malbec vine. By planting those vines, Eugenio became the first producer to grow Malbec in the Uco Valley and he named the vineyard after his daughter Celia.
From those 19th century beginnings, the Estate has 350 hectares of vineyards in the Uco Valley and has firmly established itself as one Argentina’s finest producers.
To acknowledge the role a horse played in the foundation of the Estate, for the second year, La Celia returns to the world-famous racecourse, sponsoring a series of three races including a competitive race on day two of the Dubai Duty Free Irish Derby Festival.
La Celia will be available throughout the summer season with featured wines including the La Celia Reserva Malbec, La Celia Reserva Pinot Grigio and La Celia Rosé.
Racegoers will also have the chance to enjoy La Celia’s award-winning wines in the exclusive La Celia Wine Bar located in Champions Hall throughout the summer, most notably at The Tattersalls Irish Guineas Festival 24 to 26 May, Dubai Duty Free Irish Derby Festival 28 – 30 June and Juddmonte Irish Oaks Weekend 20 – 21 July, 2024.
Evan Arkwright, Racing and Sponsorship manager, The Curragh Racecourse, said: “The origins of La Celia has a strong relationship with horse racing and we are delighted that the Curragh has been selected to highlight this historic association by continuing our partnership that we launched with them last year. Our collaboration ensures these top-quality Argentine wines will add to the enjoyment of our patron’s race day experience”
