December bar sales up 36.6%

Bar sales volumes were up by 36.6% last December on those for the same month in 2020 according to provisional seasonally-adjusted figures from the Central Statistics Office, while bar sales values were up by nearly 40%.
Not surprisingly, final figures for November indicate that bar sales volumes were up 864% on November 2020, with values up 810%.

But bar volumes in December 2021 were down by nearly 35% on the previous month, November, while values were down 29%.

Compared to pre-Covid December 2019, last December’s bar sales volumes were down by over 49%, with bar sales values down 47%.

Across the October to December Quarter last year bar sales volumes were up by 216% on the same Quarter in 2020, with bar sales values up 213%.

Comparing the last Quarter of 2021 with the immediately preceding Quarter (July to September 2021), bar sales values were up 7% while values rose by 4.6%.

Not surprisingly, final figures for November indicate that bar sales volumes were up 864% on November 2020, with values up 810%. November 2021’s bar volumes were down 18% on the previous month, October 2021, while values were down 23%.

Retail Sales generally were down 3.2% in volume in December 2021 compared with November 2021.
