Beam gets first taste of Irish liquid Gold at IWSC
Beam’s Cooley Distillery has now won a total of 43 IWSC Gold medals over the last six years. In 2008, Cooley was named World Distiller of the Year and the company was named European Distiller of the Year an unprecedented four years in a row from 2007-2011.
Beam’s first-ever Gold medals in the Irish whiskey category were awarded to the Connemara Peated Single Malt, the Connemara Distiller’s Edition and the Kilbeggan 18 Year-Old. Nine of Beam’s Irish whiskeys won Silver Outstanding commendations and a further four collected Silver medals.
Beam’s Senior Global Marketing Manager for Irish Whiskey Stephen Teeling commented, “Although a first for Beam, Cooley Distillery has been phenomenally successful at the IWSC over the years and we’ll look to build on that success. The quality of our whiskeys, right across the product portfolio from blends and single malts to single grains to peated whiskeys has again been recognised for excellence by the experts in our industry.”
This latest success comes just months after Beam’s Kilbeggan 18 Year-Old was named as the world’s Best Irish Blended Whiskey at the 2012 World Whisky Awards.
