Bar volumes up 4.3%

October saw a 5.3% rise in the value of bar sales with an accompanying increase in volumes of 4.3% on October 2015 according to provisional CSO figures for October.

Sales values were up 1.1% on September while volumes were up 0.6%.

Final figures for September show that bar sales values were up 6.5% on a volume increase of 5.7% compared to September 2015. Compared to the previous month, August, sales values were up 3.1% while volumes rose 2.3%.

Over the three-month period August to October this year, provisional sales values in bars were up 3.5% while volumes in bars were up 2.8% over the same period last year.

Compared to the previous May to July quarter this year, bar sales values were up by 0.2% while bar sales volumes rose 0.5%.
