Amy Huberman launches wine collection, Ah

Ah wine is produced in a vineyard in the Requena region of Valencia
Named, Ah Wines, Amy Huberman is bringing a Sauvignon Blanc and a Cava Brut Rosé to the market though Barry and Fitzwilliam. She describes the launch as a ‘pinch me’ moment and something that has come to fruition over three years and a project on which she is the creative directive. “Our business has grown from a little grape seed over the last three years right up today; just days away from launching and I couldn’t be prouder of the incredible team involved, or more excited to pop open the bottles and share with you all!”
In an exclusive interview with Drinks Industry Ireland she explains how this wine range came about. “This all started because I love bubbles,” she explains.
“I love the sense of occasion around champagne because it’s not an everyday thing,” she says. “Sometimes prosecco can be a little sweet so cava is a dry alternative and the best of both worlds in my opinion. It’s dry and it’s light but you’ve still got the same ceremony as champagne with popping the cork. So we thought it would be interesting to bring more cava to Ireland as it’s a market that hasn’t been as explored as maybe prosecco has been. It brought us to this vineyard in the Requena region of Valencia. And because we were out there doing a cava, we looked at also doing a Sauvignon Blanc,” she explains.

Message on a bottle. You can write personal messages on the labels of Huberman’s wines
The vineyard where Ah is produced lies on the Valencian high plateau, 70 kilometres west of Valencia, at 650 meters above sea level. Ah has partnered with local cooperative farmers in Valenica – families who have tended these vineyards for generations and are committed to sustainable practices to ensure the preservation of their land for future generations, which was of great importance to Amy and the team behind Ah.
A unique feature on her bottles is that you can write your own story on the label as a nod to her being a writer: “You can write any number of funny, kind, sentimental, obscure sentiments to surprise and/or delight your friends or loved ones with when calling over with a bottle of wine,” she explains.
Ah Sauvignon Blanc is retailing at €17.95 and Ah Cava Brut Rosé is €24.95. Initially it will be stocked in Dunnes and Tesco nationwide. For the full interview with Amy, see the March/April issue of Drinks Industry Ireland.
