Ampersand announces exit from the wine business after over 30 years

This decision follows an in-depth strategic review of the business

Dalcassian Wines & Spirits will acquire Ampersand’s full wine portfolio from 1 May

After 30 years in the wine business, Ampersand has recently announced its decision to exit this sector to give greater focus to its growing FMCG business unit.

In a statement, the distributor noted that this decision follows an in-depth strategic review of the business.

Ampersand also highlighted that it ‘is pleased to confirm that Dalcassian Wines & Spirits will acquire its full wine portfolio, with the transition set to take effect from 1 May 2025’.

As part of this transition, Paul Raftery, Ampersand’s wine buyer and manager, will join Dalcassian Wines & Spirits as head of Wine. His expertise and passion for the industry will further strengthen Dalcassian’s position in the market, it added.

Ampersand said that it ‘extends its deepest gratitude to its loyal retailers, suppliers, and trade colleagues for their support and partnerships over the years’.

While the company bids farewell to the wine sector, it noted that it will remain committed to delivering premium products within its expanding FMCG portfolio, including cigars, tobacco accessories, vaping products, nicotine pouches, and snacks.

For further inquiries regarding this transition, you can contact your Ampersand representative or call 01 4130100 for assistance.
