April bar volumes & values down 89% on 2019
Across the three months February to April bar sales volumes declined by a massive 81.2% when compared with the same three-month period in 2020 while values declined 81.4%.
Comparing the February-April Quarter to the immediately preceding Quarter (November 2020 to January 2021), bar sales volumes were down 53.3% while values were down 55.0%.
The CSO figures also compare the situation last April with that of two years ago to find that bar sales volumes and values were both down 88.8% on the situation in April 2019.
Final figures for March show bar sales volumes down 81.1% on March 2010 while values were down 80.5%.
Compared to the previous month, February, March’s bar volumes were down 1.5% while values showed a decline of 1.1%.
Retail sales generally were up 7.4% in April compared to the previous month.
