October bar sales up 270%

Bar sales volumes were up 270.5% last October compared to the same month in 2020 according to the Central Stastics Office's seasonally-adjusted provisional sales figures for October. Sales values showed growth of 276.5%.
The CSO's figures show October's bar sales volumes were down 6.0% when compared to the pre-pandemic October 2019 figures and they were down by 2.8% in value compared to October 2019.

October’s bar sales volumes were up 18% on the previous month, September, while values were up 17.6%.

Taking a more realistic – pre-Covid – comparison, the CSO’s figures show October’s bar sales volumes were down 6.0% when compared to the pre-pandemic October 2019 figures and they were down by 2.8% in value compared to October 2019.

Final figures for September 2021 show bar sales volumes up 54.9% on September 2020 and up by 59.2% in value.

September’s bar sales volumes were up by 9.6% on the previous month, August, while bar Sales values in September were up by 11.4% on August.

Looking at the three-month quarter August to October, seasonally-adjusted provisional bar sales volumes were up 80.0% on those for the same period last year while values were up 84.1%.

Comparing this year’s August-October quarter to that of the immediately preceding one – May to July 2021 – bar sales volumes were up 117.1% while values were up 112.4%.

Retail sales were down 1.7% generally in October 2021 when compared to September 2020.
